Giovanni Felicioni

As a bodyworker Giovanni’s interests lie in the field of
human function and mature behaviour, where the process of structural and
movement integration meets the person’s own process of coming to a deeper and broader
awareness of self and others.
Giovanni is a certified Rolfer®, Rolf Movement
Practitioner and yoga teacher. He has been practicing as a bodyworker in
London and abroad for the past 18 years. Giovanni teaches on the
European
Rolfing Faculty, trains yoga teachers, runs a practice in London and teaches
workshops and retreats internationally. With a background in architecture
and performing arts, he trained as a yoga teacher with Mary Stewart and teaches classes in London and
workshops around the world. He is a founding member of The World
Community for Christian Meditation, and its publishing arm Medio Media Ltd.
Gravity is really the teacher in yoga. Force and a sense
of fixing or conquering the body are never used. When the practice is
integrative the practitioner learns to release and orient towards the ground and
within as well as out into the space around them.
The
yoga asana are learned over a period of time, step by step, along a gradation
of variations, that take one deeper into the body and an understanding of the
fabric of the body in its relationship to breath and gravity.
These yoga asana are really ‘movement questions’ that one
explores rather than ‘answers’ that one puts on the body. These movement
questions give us a chance to explore the potential of the body while
allowing its self-regulating capacity to heal what needs healing. This is
integration.

“Gravity is the therapist. When the body gets working
appropriately, then gravity flows through. Then, spontaneously, the body heals
itself.” Dr. Ida Rolf
