Angela
sees this wonderful science of yoga as a very natural way of living. Her
warmth and sensitivity provide a caring and nurturing class environment,
allowing support and understanding for the needs of individual students. Angela
is based in Essex and has been teaching yoga internationally for many years.
She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of natural health.Angela became interested in yoga in the 1960s and followed on to become a British Wheel of Yoga Diploma Course Tutor (teacher training tutor) in the 1970s. She was also a teacher trainer for the Yoga for Health Foundation for over 20 years. Angela worked for Adult Education for over 25 years but now teaches independently and for elderly and arthritis associations within the NHS and the local community. Since qualifying as an Alexander Technique Teacher (Dip MSTAT) in the early 1980s, Angela's yoga and Alexander work have become synonymous. She is head of training at the Essex Alexander School. The challenges and fast-changing demands of modern life can so occupy our thoughts that we forget about that most important consideration: ourselves. By adopting the principles of the Alexander Technique and by learning to prevent interference with the subtle, complex mechanisms of balance and posture, we can significantly restore their effectiveness. Breathing and speaking become easier; movement becomes freer, lighter and more enjoyable. Angela started a mail order bookshop called 'Angela's Yoga Books' in 1971 to serve her students, which is run today by her daughter Sarah, though she is still very much involved in an advisory capacity. Angela's summer school sessions "You are not here to do exercises or to learn to do something right, but to get able to meet a stimulus that always put you wrong and to learn to deal with it." F. M.
