Andrea
approaches her yoga teaching and practice as a playful exploration of body and
self. She explores raja yoga and the workings of the mind, and
relationships between ourselves and the world, ourselves and
others.Working with our bodies - with gravity, with the space around us, with movement, with awareness - helps us to develop integrity and harmony in body and mind. Yoga provides us with a set of tools to help us live more balanced, fulfilling and joyful lives. Yoga practice gives us time and space to nurture ourselves so that we can grow stronger and more adaptable in the landscape of real life, and realise our fullest potential as human beings. Andrea has been training yoga teachers since 2003 (BWY Diploma). She teaches workshops around the country and weekly classes in Minehead. With a background in biochemistry, Andrea developed an interest in yoga at an early age. She trained as a yoga teacher with Ann Weston in Watford and has been teaching yoga since 1994. She is a qualified Stress Management Trainer, and is currently studying Structural Integration and Movement at the European Rolfing Institute in Munich.
Andrea's teaching style is a reflection of her personal approach to yoga which she has developed through work with teachers from the Satyananda, Iyengar, Sivananda, Viniyoga, Kripalu and Scaravelli schools at different times in her life. Andrea set up the Yoga Village UK website at www.yogauk.com in 1999 which continues to support yoga teaching and learning across the UK. She writes for yoga publications, and provides in-flight yoga programmes for two international airlines. Andrea's summer school sessions "There is a light that shines beyond all things on earth, beyond us all, beyond the heavens, beyond the highest, the very highest heavens. This is the light that shines in our heart." Chandogya Upanishad
