Amanda Brown

Amanda approaches her yoga teaching with the belief that there are as many ways of working as there are individuals.  She particularly encourages students to become aware of the need to practice in order to support and grow themselves effectively.
Amanda works within the framework of the Iyengar yoga system, which continues to inspire her work.

Amanda started practising yoga and meditation at age 14 and has been teaching yoga for 17 years.  She currently teaches classes in Cornwall, and workshops around the country.

For the last 5 years Amanda has been an apprentice in the Aroter Vajrayana tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.  Her primary practice is dzogchen meditation.

With a background in art and dance, Amanda qualified as an Iyengar yoga teacher in 1992, after having explored Astanga vinyasa, Satyananda yoga and various other styles.  She taught yoga at the MS centre in Sydney, Australia, and has set up many projects for people with special needs, teaching dance, art and yoga in Special schools and in Mental Health units.

Over the years Amanda has worked in many different areas, interweaving disciplines.  She is qualified in Kinesiology, reflexology, spinal touch and massage and this informs her teaching with an holistic sense of the body mind continuum.

Amanda is co-founder and co-organiser of the Santosa Pan Yogic Gathering which came about as a result of having taught at the Ickwell Bury Yoga for Health Foundation festival for a number of years.  She is also currently participating in the York University Yoga for Low Back Pain medical trials as one of 20 selected teachers nationwide, funded by ARC.
